1. Synthetic Phonics - An Introduction to Jolly Phonics
This workshop provides teachers with an introduction to the five skills of the Jolly Phonics program. It provides hands-on strategies to take back to the classroom and examines how digraphs are introduced in the first year of formal schooling. The workshop is designed to show how Jolly Phonics can be adapted to suit the children in your class. The importance of phonemic awareness is also highlighted. 2. Synthetic Phonics - An In Depth Look at Jolly Phonics This workshop provides teachers with a detailed look at the five skills of the Jolly Phonics program along with additional activities which teachers can use when teaching the 42 sounds. The workshop explores engaging activities to assist children with vowels and digraphs. Teachers will be provided with simple strategies to assist children with the reading and writing process.
"I've finished teaching all my 42 sounds and I have two term left. What do I do now?" Teachers will explore the programming of Jolly Phonics as a yearly program.
