The North Shores FM 99.3

I am a volunteer presenter on the one of Australia’s leading community radio stations
the North Shore’s FM 99.3 which in 2008 is celebrating its 25th year of broadcasting
and my show “An Evening With ………..” goes to air each Tuesday evening at 7.00pm.

During the hour-long show, I interview leading Australian personalities, community leaders
and interesting people, showcasing their lives and they bring in their own music
which allows the listeners to know more about the person behind the personality.

Amongst my guests have been Channel 9’s Ray Martin and Steve Liebmann,
entertainers Gene Pitney, Kamahl, Frank Ifield, Lonnie Lee, Maria Venuti
and my great friend Smoky Dawson who sadly passed away in February 2008.

I interviewed John Howard when he was the Prime Minister of Australia,
Brendan Nelson MP who is now the Leader of the Federal Opposition,
local North Shore Mayors, former NSW Opposition Leader John Brogden
and a number of other prominent MPs from both sides of politics.

There have also been a host of famous sports stars and interesting sports
broadcasting legends such as the late, great Frank Hyde, Rex Mossop, David Lord
and Norman May, all whom have fabulous memories and told such great stories.

I also joined the station's Board of Directors in November 2007
and was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Board in August 2008.

Please have a look at the station's website at
www.993.com.au and
below are a few photographs of some of my guests for you to enjoy:

Interviewing former Prime Minister John Howard in 2003, who said
his favourite artists included Bob Dylan,
The Beach Boys and The Beatles.

Norm has called the swimming at every Olympic and Commonwealth Games
since 1960 and in August, will be commenting on the 29th Olympiad in Beijing.

Australian Rock & Roll great Lonnie Lee, in front of the FM99.3 outside broadcast unit.

Great friend and wonderful person, lengendary Rugby League braodcaster, Frank Hyde MBE.

Another good friend and 'everyones pal' Australian music icon Smoky Dawson MBE OAM.

Jack Mundey was the boss of the Builders Workers Federation in the 1970’s when Sydney
was constantly embroiled in strikes & green bans and I loathed the disruption his union caused.
However today when I walk around Centennial Park and the Rocks Area of Sydney,
I say thanks Jack for saving and preserving some of our wonderful community assets.

Federal Opposition Leader and former Minister for Defence, Dr Brendan Nelson.

Swimming legend John Konrads who broke 24 world swimming records.

Kamahl who is a genuinely decent person was recently named one of
of Australia’s Greatest Performers of the last 100 Years. He is in great company
with the likes of Dame Joan Sutherland, Slim Dusty and Errol Flynn.

Recording star Bobby Rydell who had many number one hit records in the USA,
Britain and Australia including 'Wild One, Volare, Swinging School' and many more
