Critical Hype is an organisation dedicated to working with dancers to create projects that educate the general public about dance and to continue promoting the importance of dance in Australia. - The Dance Around The World Solo Competition is for Solo performers
- Win a return flight to Los Angeles & 40 classes at The Edge Performing Arts Center
- Competitors must be over 15 years of age
- Competitors cannot be professional dancers (i.e. if you earn more than 50% of your annual income through dancing, you will be classified as a professional dancer)
- Competitors must participate in the premium workshops for the entire weekend of the Australian Dance Festival (as this is how they will get selected for the finals) i.e. you must be registered for a weekend pass. >>More Information
Street Style Battle
The Australian Dance Festival and Critical Hype, (organisers of the Australian Hip Hop Championships-Sydney and 360 United) are proud to present the "ADFStreet Style Battle". The competition preliminaries will take place at Sydney Square located between Sydney Town Hall and St Andrews Cathedral, with the finals being held in the evening at Sydney Town Hall on Saturday 4th September 2010.
Never before has there been a Hip Hop competition located right in the heart of the city - public exposure will be absolutely huge! The aim of the ADF Street Style Battle is to promote and expose the street dancers to the entire dance community both nationally and internationally. The preliminaries will be taking place from 1pm - 6pm, with divisions including; Popping battles, Bboy battles, hip hop battles, crew vs crew freestyle battles, and a choreography competition, with the finals taking place inside Town Hall (9.30pm - 12am) for the finale of the first day of the Festival.
The finals of the ADF Street Style Battle will take place at 9.30pm on the same day (Sat 4th Sept) inside Sydney Town Hall. Here's what you'll witness:
- 8 Crews will perform their choreographed routines (by invitation only from Critical Hype). Prize Money = $1,000
- Battle of the Top 2 Poppers, Lockers, Breakers and Hip Hop soloists as determined by the afternoon prelims (Prize money = $200 per division)
- Battle of the Top 2 Crews (Freestyle division) as determined by the afternoon prelims. Prize Money = $1,000

Razzamatazz Great Legs Competition
Here's a competition for ladies who want to win an Ipad! It's so simple. All you have to do is purchase a pair of Razzamatazz stockings, and wear them as you do a little turn on the catwalk during our afternoon shows on Saturday & Sunday (12.30pm - 1pm). We'll take photos of you, post them on Facebook and then people will vote over the next month for their favourite model. The girl with the most "likes" on her picture will win an Ipad!
The People's Choice Awards A competition for every team that performs at the Australian Dance Festival. Every performance (evening showcase, lunchtime shows, after-party shows, dance competitions) will be filmed and uploaded on to our YouTube Channel & Facebook within days of the Australian Dance Festival.
The public will then vote on their favourite team performance over a period of 3 months. The performance which get the most "Likes" will win the competition. The prize?
- A guaranteed spot to perform in the 2011 Australian Dance Festival evening showcase,
- Free weekend passes to the 2011 ADF for every member of the performance team.
