Venue & Accommodation

The Sydney Salsa Congress is held at Sydney Olympic Park - home of the 2000 Olympic Games.  The venue is about a 30 minute drive West of Sydney and is well serviced by buses and trains.  Most activities take place at the State Sports Centre which boasts a fantastic stage with arena seating, and one of THE biggest and best dancefloors in Australia.

This year, you have a choice of accommodation options:

Why Stay at the Official Congress Hotels?
We know from our own experience at overseas congresses, that staying at the official congress hotel is half the fun. In fact, many of the local Sydney salsaroes choose to stay at the hotel, even though they have their own homes within a 30 minute drive.  It's a great opportunity to meet fellow interstate and international salseros, and it puts you right in the thick of the action. You certainly won't have trouble locating the party!

For the 2009 Sydney Salsa Congress, the official hotels will be the Novotel/ Ibis Hotel (located in the same building) at Sydney Olympic Park. These two world class hotels are in the same complex, and share common lobby facilities. Furthermore, they are truly convenient, being a 5 minute stroll straight down the road from the State Sports Centre congress venue. All you have to do is roll out of bed and be ready to party!

Hotel Rooms for 2011 Will Book Out Fast!
Every year, we SELL OUT of hotel rooms and people who missed out had to experience the inconvenience of staying at the next nearest hotel, which is a 10 minute taxi ride away from Sydney Olympic Park.  Do yourselves a favour and make sure that you book in early so that you can enjoy the conveniece of being a 5 minute walk away from where all the workshops and parties are held.

We have negotiated hard with the hotel for them to guarantee that the rates offered to the Sydney Salsa Congress will be the cheapest (i.e. even better than rates offered on Wotif.com.au, Lastminute.com.au, or discounted rates for travel agents).  If you do not book via the Congress, you will be missing out on great value for money and  paying the expensive rates charged by the hotel.

To ensure that you secure your accommodation for the Congress, we strongly recommend that you book your accommodation with us as soon as possible.  To be eligible for the special rates offered by the Novotel & Ibis, you MUST book through the Sydney Salsa Congess.  Prices are as follows:

The State Sports Centre
Home of The Sydney Salsa Congress

The State Sports Centre with arena seating and 3,254 square meeting timber floor

The venue for the Sydney Salsa Congress is the State Sports Centre.
We think it's fantastic - and we're confident you will too!

You'll enjoy spacious, air-conditioned surrounds, that are amongst the best available for dancers in Sydney . The State Sports Centre's main arena, Sydney Arena , is one of Sydney's most popular auditoriums for dancing events, with an impressive space of 3,254 square metres . Features include a Tasmanian Blackbutt timber floor - just perfect for smooth spins and fancy footwork!

Part of this highly versatile venue will be transformed into a theatre with a tiered seating capacity for 1,000 people - so you can sit back and enjoy the performances in style. The separate social dance floor will be huge, and provides an ideal location for 2,000 plus Salseros to burn the floor during the Sydney Salsa Congress parties.

There will be a bar and seating areas for when you need to kick back and enjoy the spectacle of the live band. Also, you can browse the Dance Bazaar for some goodies to take home - so leave space in your luggage for videos, shoes, clothes...
