Frequently Asked Questions

We have been receiving many enquiries about registrations, ticket collection and how to check in to the hotels.  Below is a list of frequently asked questions and the answers to assist you:


Prepaid Registration & Ticket Collection


Question:  I registered online but I have not received any correspondence from you.  Should I be receiving my tickets in the mail?
When your registration was processed, you should have received an email with a Tax Invoice.  The invoice also contains information regarding the location and opening times of the Registration Desks where you can collect your tickets (or wristbands if you purchased a full pass/performer pass).  If you have not received this email and you believe that you have registered, please call us ASAP on 1300 132 152.

Question:  I have just purchased Night Tickets, where do I go to pick them up?
All pre-purchased night tickets (including Ticketek purchased tickets) can be collected from the Information Desk located at the Registration Area (Upper level of the State Sports Centre.) Tickets can be collected from Thursday 28th of January from 2pm.  


Question:  How does the Registration Process work for full passes & performer passes?  What do I need to bring with me?
Registration Desks will be set up on the upper level of the State Sports Centre from 11am on Thursday 28th January.  The Registration Desks are split into the following areas:
Area 1:  Full Pass Holders
Area 2:  Performance Pass Holders

Each area will have 3 desks: (1) Surnames A-H  (2) Surnames I - P (3) Surnames Q - Z

You line up behind the relevant desk.  You will need to bring with you some Photo ID.  You will be issued with a wristband once you sign off on your agreement to abide by the terms and conditions of the Congress.



Question:  What are the Terms & Conditions for full pass & performer pass holders?
Wearing a wristband identifies you as a full pass / performer pass holder. When you collect your wristband, you will be asked to agree to the following conditions:
1)  To keep your wristband on at all times during the Congress
2)  If you lose your wristband and you are unable to provide us with your original wristband, you must pay the full price of a full pass for a replacement
3)  If you break your wristband and require a replacement, you agree to pay a $5 replacement fee.  You must provide us with your original wristband in order to get a replacement.

Question: Do I have to book in for the individual workshops?
No, you do not have to book in for the workshops.  Most of the workshop rooms have a large capacity.  For those workshops in the Hockey Room and The Auditorium, there is a limited amount of space.  We would recommend that you get to these workshops early as it is stricyly "first come, first serve".  There is a 15 minute interval between workshops to facilitate movement of dancers between rooms, and all the rooms are within a 5 minute walk of each other.



Question:  I am performing on Thursday night.  Will I have enough time to register and collect my tickets before rehearsals?
If you are performing on Thursday night, you will be able to register at the Registration Desks at the State Sports Centre from 2pm on Thursday.  


Purchasing Tickets & Passes at the Venue


Question:  Can I purchase tickets and/or full passes, day passes at the Venue?
Yes, but the tickets will be a little more expensive, and you will also waste valuable time by having to queue at the registration desk and the cashier.  We recommend that you purchase your tickets/ passes ONLINE before the 20th January 2010 to save yourself time and money.

Tickets at the door cost $50 (instead of $45 prepaid)
Full passes at the door are $405 (instead of $390 prepaid)
Day pases at the door are $280

PERFORMERS BEWARE!  Performer passes will not be sold at the venue - you will be charged the full price of $405 instead of your Performer Pass price of $290.


Venue Orientation & Parking


Question: How do I get from the Hotels to the State Sports Centre?
All the hotels are less than a 10 minute walk from the State Sports Centre.  You can download and print a map from HERE


Question: Where can I park?

We have circled in red P3 which is the nearest parking station to the State Sports Centre.  You can purchase a Multiple Entry Day pass to the car park from the State Sports Centre Reception for $17.50 per day.  This means that you can park there during the day for the workshops, go home and park again for the night shows and parties.



Checking into the Hotels

Question:  I booked my accommodation via the Sydney Salsa Congress.  How will the hotel know that I have a room? 
We have supplied the hotel with a list of people who paid for their accommodation via the Sydney Salsa Congress.  When you check in at the hotel, all you will have to do is provide them with your name and some photo ID.  You will also be required to provide them with your credit card details in order to cover any room service charges.

In order to speed up the check in process, the hotel has requested that you complete a check in form and fax it to them before Thursday 29th January.  If you do not have access to a fax machine, we ask that you at least download the form, complete it, and take it with you when you check in.  This will save everyone a lot of time and it means that you will be able to get into your hotel room faster.

Catching the Airport Transfer


Question: I am booked on the transfer from the Domestic Airport to the Hotel.  Where will the coaches be picking up?
The coaches will pick you up from Terminal 3 (The Qantas Terminal).  The MEETING POINT will be the GLORIA JEANS CAFE which is located on the same floor as the baggage carousels.  A Sydney Salsa Congress representative will be there to escort you to the coaches.


Question: Do I need a ticket to get on the bus?
Your Tax Invoice should have the details of the transfer which you booked.  You will need to present your tax invoice showing this detail as well as a form of ID in order to get on the bus.  If you have booked yourself on to a transfer AND your tax invoice DOES NOT show the transfer, please contact us immediately on 1300 132 152.  You will also need your invoice to get on the return bus on Monday 1st February so please retain the copy of the invoice.
