FAQs Q. Why did you write this book? A. When my sons were 6 and 9, they had no interest in reading for fun. They were often “over it” by page 4 of a chapter book. Having always loved reading myself, I wanted to find a way to get them excited about stories. So I thought to combine the types of toys they loved with the types of adventures they loved. Q. Who is this book for? A. While all kids 5-10 years old love this book, it’s especially designed for kids who aren't keen to read for fun. The book-game format especially appeals to reluctant readers or kids with reading problems because it: - Uses toys as an incentive to keep the child reading each page. - Is a choose-your-adventure format so there are thousands of ways to find the gold treasure. The child's experience with the book is always different. - Is interactive - kids open chests, match toys to clue drawings, flip between pages and use the treasure map. - Is inviting to read - with bold illustrations and small blocks of text. - Is written as a series of short clue stories - each with a riddle, action and conclusion. So the child gets the immediate gratification of finding out what happens over and over again. - Is easy to read! The reading level is late Year 1/early Year 2, so language isn't a barrier for children with reading problems. It's a great tool for reluctant readers in Years 3 and 4 because it gives them content suited for their age in a format that's interactive, engaging and readable. Kids get all of the fun and none of the frustration of many books. Q. How is this book different from other books?
A. It's a book that thinks it's a game and a game that thinks it's a book! The format of treasure chests on a book is unique. Kids absolutely love the toys and how they act as the clues that drive the story forward. And there are thousands of ways to find the gold so kids can read-play over and over to see how quickly they can find the gold. Q. How can people buy the book?
A. People can buy the book through this website. You can also organise buying the books in bulk via an organisation or school to save money. Q. How can I get the best price on a Treasure Bound Book?
A. In Australia, the very best price is achieved through the school fundraising program because purchasers can get the book at the lowest price and pay no individual shipping and handling charges. Purchasers can also save via the group bulk purchase program. Q. Why are the shipping & handling prices different for different states in Australia?
A. Australia Post charges vary significantly depending on the state being delivered to. Because our warehouse is in NSW, NSW has the lowest shipping and handling cost. As soon as we ship interstate, Australia Post's costs go up, for some states significantly! We occassionally use couriers if the shipping price is cheaper than Australia Post. Q. Why do you charge in Australian dollars for US and overseas customers?
A. Our merchant account/bank requires us to do so. We've set U.S. prices based on US dollars and then exhanged those prices to Australian dollar amounts to get as close as possible to the US dollar price we wanted to offer. Q. When buying, why do I have to indicate which country I'm delivering in?
A. Book-games delivering to Australia must include the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Also, book-games are warehoused in Australia and the U.S. So the country we are delivering to impacts our costs for warehousing, bank fees and shipping and handling. Q.
